The Alexandria branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture (HFBC) was founded in 1994 and is housed in the neoclassical building of the former Averofio Girls’ School.

The Alexandria branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture (HFBC) was founded in 1994 and is housed in the neoclassical building of the former Averofio Girls’ School. It houses a lending library open to the public, as well as rooms for exhibitions, lectures and Greek language teaching. The branch serves as a teaching and certification hub for the Greek language while lectures, exhibitions, concerts are also included in its activities. It participates in the Cairo International Book Fair and other cultural events in the country and it cooperates with the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the Hellenic Community of Alexandria and the Hellenic Cultural Centre of Cairo.
