Residency Programme

Αn open call for a 2026 literary translation residency.

The GreekLit Residency Programme at Vitsa (GRPV) was launched by the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture to offer a working and meeting place for translators of Greek books into any language, in a stimulating environment.

Eligible applicants for the GRPV are all translators from Greek into other languages who have an ongoing project within the GreekLit program.

The GRPV consists of two annual sessions, held in June (1-15/6) and October (5-19/10). Each residency term lasts 2 weeks, and five translators are selected for each term. The submission deadline is December 30, 2025 for the first term and April 30, 2026 for the second term.

Location

The Residency Programme is located in the village of Vitsa, in Epirus (Northwestern Greece), and is housed in the premises of “Epekina Hora” (The Land Beyond), a beautifully renovated 19th-century private estate. It is a mountain center for knowledge and culture.

The GRPV covers:

  • Two-week accommodation with breakfast, lunch, and dinner included
  • Travel costs from Athens or Thessaloniki to Ioannina/Vitsa

At the end of each residency, the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture will organize a public event featuring the participating translators.
